Artist, Bhavani Katoch: “Mastering the Veils of Color and Light”

Bhavani Katoch, born in 1956, is a gifted artist whose creative journey is marked by both national and international acclaim. He embarked on his artistic path at the Government College of Art in Chandigarh, where he honed his skills. In 1984, Katoch’s artistic pursuits led him to France, courtesy of a French Government scholarship, to study painting and lithography at the prestigious Ecole National des Beaux-arts in Paris.

Bhavani Katoch’s art is a masterpiece of technique and creativity. He employs pure pigments and resin binders, delicately applying thin layers over partially dried ones to achieve the perfect tones and transparency. This technique allows him to create an interplay of colors, like veils, where one color subtly reveals itself through another. It preserves the individual character and allure of each color, keeping their memories alive. Katoch’s art is a mesmerizing dance of light and color, evoking a sense of time and space, tranquility and motion.

Throughout his illustrious career, Bhavani Katoch has received numerous national and international awards, a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication. Since 1980, he has graced the art world with a series of solo and group exhibitions, both in India and abroad. His academic achievements include a diploma in Drawing and Painting from the Government College of Arts in Chandigarh, earned from 1976 to 1981, and a scholarship from the French Government from 1984 to 1985. He also obtained a diploma in lithography from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris from 1985 to 1989.

Currently, Bhavani Katoch resides and creates his magnificent art in the vibrant and artistic city of Paris.
