Born in 1977 in a village in Karnataka, A. J. Moujan derives inspiration for his art from music. Having been exposed to them early on in his life, his paintings are dominated by street musicians playing a variety of Indian instruments.
Moujan believes in the power of music and its ability to hold sway over our bodies and minds. Music speaks deeply to the human spirit, his spirit. Using a bright colour palette, Moujan tries to evoke a sense of joy and celebration in his artwork by capturing the fervour with which the musicians play.
