Artist, Ashu Gupta: “The Art of Intricate Exploration”

Ashu Gupta, an emerging contemporary artist, delves into the depths of introspection through her artistry. A graduate of the National Institute of Fashion Design in Raipur, Ashu’s journey in art extends to London, where she received a certificate from the prestigious Royal College of Art Contemporary Art Summer School. Her artistic evolution has been defined by a unique experimentation with pattern making, which gradually unveils intricate motifs as expansive forms. Primarily employing pen and ink, Ashu meticulously employs hundreds of thousands of repeating patterns and stippling techniques in her creations. In recent times, she has ventured into challenging techniques like paper piercing and thread work.

Ashu’s profoundly layered compositions, mostly in black and white, offer the gift of a fresh interpretation with every gaze. Her subjects take center stage, unburdened by distractions, allowing the sheer beauty of her remarkable pieces to shine.

With a style that is both distinctive and self-assured, Ashu has already garnered the attention of seasoned art collectors, despite being in the early stages of her professional journey. She has been a part of numerous group exhibitions across India and has also showcased her solo exhibitions at Gallery Sublime, Bangalore, in 2017, and at Artisera in August 2020 and August 2022. Her talent has earned her nominations for the prestigious Lalith Kala Academy Awards (2016-17 and 2017-18) and the 2017 Bombay Art Society Awards. Ashu Gupta resides and creates in the vibrant artistic hub of Bangalore.
