Debabrata Hazra, born in 1974 in Kharagpur, West Bengal, is an accomplished Indian artist whose creative journey is deeply rooted in his experiences amidst the pristine wilderness of his hometown. He pursued his artistic education at the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, where he attained a BFA in Painting in 1997, followed by an MFA in 2001.
Debabrata Hazra’s art is a celebration of the surreal facets of the avian world, influenced by his time spent in the lap of nature in Kharagpur. His paintings come to life with the presence of warblers, phoenixes, and pheasants, offering viewers a glimpse into the ethereal side of the avian realm. His talent and dedication to the craft have led him to participate in a multitude of group and solo exhibitions, and in 2002, he was honored with the ‘Dharan Shah Samman’ award by Vichar Manch, Kolkata.
