Born in Mussourie, Kamar Alam is best known for the distinct portrayal of the human form in his paintings. He breathes life into his work by communicating with the painting. His figures are perfect, the play of light and darkness is balanced, and the movement of the canvas takes the viewer to loop back to a starting point on the painting. Having experimented with various mediums, the artist has been able to carve a niche for himself using the pointillism technique in creating the artwork.
Says the artist, “My focus, my vision from the start has been that my art would be simplistic in thought and forms, yet deep. There is a serenity that pervades the inter-relationships and dialogues of my compositions, as the figures look inwards rather than outward. The figuration overlapped with neutral elements and geometric shapes that have symbolic connotations emphasize my spiritual inspirations.”
