These dwellings by Grounded, Nidhi Jain, and Perinelli Design are a cut above the rest. While most aspiring homeowners may dream of enjoying panoramic views of the city from their living room, or of watching the sunrise over the ocean as they lay in bed—a family in Singapore has chosen instead to envelop themselves in the boughs of nature. Their third-floor apartment offers a unique privilege of being ensconced by the surrounding trees, sheltered from the urban landscape beyond. Designed by Singapore-based firm Perinelli Design, their residence is a true modern tropical paradise. “Our client’s brief was very concise,” explains Alessandro Perinelli, Studio Director of Perinelli Design. “They asked us to create an elegant, practical and modern house, which doesn’t feel opulent. That works very well with our own design aesthetic.”
