A Gorgeous Holiday Home in Coonoor, by Phylosophy Design Studio

Architect Vasundhara Sampath & her team at Phylosophy Design Studio design a gorgeous holiday home in the Nilgiris for their client – A home with some stunning views of the sorrounding tea estates, and equally gorgeous interiors.

We were approached by Priyanka to design her holiday home in the enchanting hill station of Coonoor, amidst the sprawling tea gardens. It was easy to understand her requirements since we had previously worked on a couple of projects with her. One look at the site and I knew my job as an interior designer just got easier as the site was enveloped with the most amazing views!

Most of the rooms have high ceilings so we used bamboo matting and stunning chandeliers to highlight it. We also used hardwood floors to add warmth to the rooms. Classic chesterfield sofas were teamed with a dramatic wicker day bed and coffee tables to create a welcoming drawing room. A cosy fireplace with accent chairs on either side is the perfect space to unwind at the end of the day with your favourite book. The printed chairs of the dining table complemented the tile insets of the locally sourced dinner wagon and mirror. The pinewood clad family area has the perfect couch to sink into and binge watch your favourite show.

The master bedroom has a gorgeous tall solid wood headboard and a cozy reading chair. The guest room has a four poster bed in a pretty shade of aqua. A comfortable chaise lounge and botanical prints on the wall makes a picture perfect corner. The boys’ room features furniture in shades of grey. Cheery prints and ceramic lamps add a pop of colour to this room. Carefully handpicked accessories and rugs added the finishing touches.

All the rooms have an attached sit out with picturesque views of the tea estate, apt for a wonderful morning cup of tea. Relaxing in the gazebo, soaking in the sweeping views, comforted by the crackling fire- definitely makes it a perfect holiday home. ” shares Architect Vasundhara Sampath shares with the #Housethome Team.
