Datta Bansode, born in 1969 in Latur, is a renowned artist whose creative journey began to take shape in his early years. In 1991, he earned his Diploma of Art from the College of Art, Pune, and in 1994, he further enriched his artistic education by obtaining a Diploma in Art Education from the esteemed Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai.
Datta Bansode’s politically charged art is rooted in his formative experiences with art in Latur. His first mentor was the artist and Buddhist monk Jagtap Sur, who painted vibrant and realistic portraits of iconic figures like Buddha, Gandhi, Nehru, and Shivaji using hardboard and enamel paints. Sur played a pivotal role in shaping Bansode’s artistic sensibilities, serving as his “first guru” and imparting valuable lessons in drawing and painting.
