Artist, Narayanappa Muniyappa: “Mastering the Art of Equine Elegance”

Narayanappa Muniyappa, born in 1967 in the idyllic village of Mittiganahalli in Karnataka, is an artist with a deep-rooted connection to his homeland. His artistic journey began with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Ken School of Art, Bangalore, which laid the foundation for his creative exploration.

One of Narayan’s standout bodies of work is the Polo series, a testament to his profound passion for horses. Within this series, he skillfully portrays the dynamism of galloping horses and the grace of polo players through the medium of charcoal drawing. His art is a symphony of expressionist strokes, swaths of opaque colors, and bold charcoal lines, capturing the essence of power and speed, as if one were witnessing a live polo match. With a keen eye for color and a steady hand in composition, Narayan’s paintings inspired by the regal sport of polo have garnered tremendous acclaim and success.

Narayan embarked on his artistic journey in 1991, and since then, he has taken part in over 30 solo exhibitions and numerous group shows. He stands as a prominent figure in the art world, with his works held in high regard. His art finds a place in the private collections of distinguished industrialists and art connoisseurs, including luminaries such as Jaydev Mody, Vijay Mallya, Cyrus Poonawalla, Avinash Bhosale, Amit Bhosale, and Rajesh Dhingra. Narayanappa Muniyappa’s artistic expression is a seamless blend of elegance and power, encapsulating the essence of the equine world with grace and finesse. His art is an homage to the magnificent world of horses and the time-honored sport of polo.
