Vivek Nimbolkar : “Geometry of Stillness, Landscapes of Inner Light”

Born in Mumbai in 1977, Artist, Vivek Nimbolkar creates abstract landscapes that exist between contemplation and memory, where geometry becomes poetic and colour assumes an almost spiritual resonance. His canvases unfold as meditative terrains – quiet yet deeply alive – inviting the viewer into a space of introspection and rhythm.

Though raised amidst the energy of the city, Nimbolkar’s artistic language draws profoundly from nature’s underlying harmony. Early influences emerged unexpectedly through the intricate embroidery practised by his mother, instilling in him a sensitivity toward repetition, patience, and precision – qualities that continue to define his painterly process.

Academically trained in Painting, Art Education, and Indology, his works balance intellectual depth with intuitive freedom. Echoes of Indian modernist masters can be felt within his practice, yet his visual vocabulary remains distinctly his own: radiant suns and moons, recurring circular forms, angular geometries, and layered textures that hover between abstraction and landscape.

His compositions often resemble fragmented terrains or woven cartographies, enriched by custom-developed tonalities that move fluidly between luminous warmth and muted earthiness. Light and shadow are carefully orchestrated, allowing the surfaces to pulse with both stillness and movement.

International exposure, including his engagement with the multicultural landscapes of Mauritius, has further expanded the sensibility of his work – introducing subtle dialogues between structure, atmosphere, and memory.  For collectors, Nimbolkar’s paintings offer a rare synthesis of contemporary abstraction and timeless spirituality. Each canvas functions as a visual meditation—measured, immersive, and quietly transcendent.
