Vishnu Sonavane’s artistic voyage began at the Government School of Art in Aurangabad and continued with a B.F.A. from the Sir J.J Institute of Applied Arts in Mumbai. His talents extended beyond traditional art forms, leading him to the animation section of the Film Division, where he received accolades for his ink and pen portraits in 1991 and was honored with a Creative Contribution award at the 38th National Film Festival.
In 1992, he gained recognition through an exhibition at Mumbai’s Jehangir Art Gallery. Sonavane’s work is known for its social commentary, skillfully addressing important societal issues. His artistic style draws inspiration from the sensuous colors of the Renaissance era, coupled with a nuanced use of light and texture.
