The brief called for easy movement, comfortable seating and minimal decor. At the same time, the language had to fulfil the son’s preference for a modern, clean-lined aesthetic. We managed to combine these varied sensibilities into a cohesive aesthetic.
The main door opens directly into an invisible intersection between the living and dining areas, anchored by the wall opposite the entrance, which features fluted wooden panels with a mirror center piece.

“Doing this project for a client who brought us on board for a second time over after a decade of doing his first apartment, made us more humble than proud. The Design approach or the thought process was to allow the simple amalgamation of volumes to flow well with one another seamlessly (without any visual hindrances), and to view every detail worked up without being overshadowed with openable shutters.

Jhulas are a symbol of our carefree childhood, and they also remind us of festivals like Teej or scenes from Hindi movies where peacocks dance and carefree girls giggle as they swing back and forth to mark the beginning of the rainy season.

The Crossboundaries Studio has put together an exciting new show-flat at Keystone Skyvillas in Vadodara, which truly exhibits the many ways in which the apartment can become a home.

“The first lockdown imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic led our clients to rethink their spaces. The idea of renovating their 20 year old beach house just outside city limits sounded like the perfect distraction from the everyday chaos of being locked inside their city apartment.

Away from the bustling chaos of a city, this quaint 3 BHK home is on the urban fringe of the diamond city amidst enchanting landscapes and natural hues. The neat and serene spaces were the confluence of the design narrative. The aim was to achieve materiality with a minimalistic approach.
