“We want a place that looks rich and classy and yet it should look like a home. Now it’s up to you!” This was a very straight forward brief from our client with their limited budget. They wanted a home that is classy, spacious and peaceful with lots of storage.

This 1,200 sqft 3bhk home designed by Design Firm S.ALT Atelier, for the family of 3 is flooded with natural light in all the rooms. The young couple wanted a calming space, with a subtle take on luxury in their new home where their 4 year old would grow up.

The entire house was conceptualized in the form of huge mass, voids of the same volume, and extended columns and beams to show an open structural grid. This project is defined by two principle elements. The first is the play of volumes in a dwelling that illustrates interesting double height spaces and second is the use of raw materials and perforated brick patterns.

The project involved creating a 4BHK show-flat for a mixed-use development located in one of Surat’s elite precincts. A bare shell flat with basic provisions had to be converted into a show-flat that would demonstrate the usage of space vis vis structural elements.
