A quintessential Hindu temple is an elegant reflection of India’s rich and diverse architectural history. Its charm and uniqueness captivates the world for an aesthetic legacy that is vibrant and eternal. The temple’s aesthetic influence and vibe slowly crept into the design of many Indian vernacular homes, bringing in age-old traditions and the use of local craftsmanship, making a home more than just a place to reside.
During this period of uncertainty and fear, we are all spending large amounts of time locked down in our respective homes. A space that is always our final destination, a place where we find comfort after a tiring day, where we feel safe and a cocoon of sorts, to each their own.

This 10,000 sq ft abode serves as a sanctuary from the chaos of the city. Like most, this client wanted a house that reflected their personalities and tastes. The couple, owners of a successful travel company (which they recently sold off ) and being well travelled themselves, their perspectives are broader.
A Contemporary Bengaluru Home where touches of traditional shine through
Ganesh Nair of Whitespace design firm has crafted the interiors of this Bengaluru residence in ways that effortlessly meld the modern with Indian ethnic. Decorative mouldings, luxe metallic surfaces and a largely neutral scheme with splashes of bold colours define the space.

Bengaluru based Design Firm, House of Ruya designs a Cosy, 2bhk in Bengaluru, for a Young Couple & their little one. Elegance, minimalism and functionality find their ways into this abode. An East facing main door marks the entrance right inside the living room.
The Victorian Influence : “A Gorgeous Ahmedabad Villa” by SpaceKarma Designs
“For this Ahmedabad-based villa project, the Client wanted a minimal style in Neutral Shades of greys, brown and whites. They had just moved back to India after living abroad for 7 years. Early on in the discussions, our Principal Architect realized that they needed something special, a design that would intrigue them even after a few years of living there.
The brief called for easy movement, comfortable seating and minimal decor. At the same time, the language had to fulfil the son’s preference for a modern, clean-lined aesthetic. We managed to combine these varied sensibilities into a cohesive aesthetic.
The main door opens directly into an invisible intersection between the living and dining areas, anchored by the wall opposite the entrance, which features fluted wooden panels with a mirror center piece.

“Doing this project for a client who brought us on board for a second time over after a decade of doing his first apartment, made us more humble than proud. The Design approach or the thought process was to allow the simple amalgamation of volumes to flow well with one another seamlessly (without any visual hindrances), and to view every detail worked up without being overshadowed with openable shutters.
Jhulas are a symbol of our carefree childhood, and they also remind us of festivals like Teej or scenes from Hindi movies where peacocks dance and carefree girls giggle as they swing back and forth to mark the beginning of the rainy season.

The Crossboundaries Studio has put together an exciting new show-flat at Keystone Skyvillas in Vadodara, which truly exhibits the many ways in which the apartment can become a home.

“The first lockdown imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic led our clients to rethink their spaces. The idea of renovating their 20 year old beach house just outside city limits sounded like the perfect distraction from the everyday chaos of being locked inside their city apartment.
Away from the bustling chaos of a city, this quaint 3 BHK home is on the urban fringe of the diamond city amidst enchanting landscapes and natural hues. The neat and serene spaces were the confluence of the design narrative. The aim was to achieve materiality with a minimalistic approach.
